Consumer Protection

Consumer protection law is designed to ensure that prospective and current students can make informed decisions about their future education.

For prospective students to make an informed choice, they should have accurate and unambiguous information about the university and programmes. UCL has a legal obligation to provide this information at the earliest possibility.

Consumer protectionÌýlaw also requires that changes to some aspects of programmes, particularly changes to compulsory modules, will result in the need to notifyÌýapplicants and in some cases consult with offer holders and current students. More information about »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË's risk-based approach to communicating changes can be found in Chapter 7 of the Academic Manual.

The following pages have been developed to provide UCL staff with guidance and support on consumer protection law.
