Global Environmental Outlook 6 report wins PROSE award

The Global Environmental Outlook Report (GEO-6), co-chaired by Prof. Paul Ekins, has won the Association of American Publishers PROSE award for Environmental Science.

It was announced that the UN Environment Programme’s sixthÌýGlobal Environmental Outlook (GEO 6) ‘Healthy Planet, Healthy People’ has won the Association of American Publishers PROSE award, honouring the best scholarly works published in 2019.

The winners were selected by a panel of 19 judges from theÌý157 finalistsÌýpreviously identified from the more than 630 entries in this year’s PROSE Awards competition. The The winners across 49 subjects categories demonstrate exceptional scholarship and have made a significant contribution to a field of study.

The GEO-6 Report

The report, produced by 250 scientists and experts from over 70 countries, calls on decision makers to take immediate action to address pressingÌýenvironmental issues to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals as well as other Internationally Agreed Environment Goals, such as the Paris Agreement. By bringing together aÌýcommunity of hundreds of scientists, peer reviewers andÌýcollaborating institutions and partners, the GEO reportsÌýbuild on sound scientific knowledge to provideÌýgovernments, local authorities, businesses andÌýindividualÌýcitizens with the information needed to guide societies to a truly sustainable world by 2050.
