Prof Petersen receives Academic Fellow Award from the Institute on Religion in an Age of Science

Professor Arthur Petersen, Professor of Science, Technology and Public Policy at »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË’s Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy (STEaPP), has received the Academic Fellow Award from the Institute on Religion in an Age of Science.

On 29 June 2024, Professor Arthur Petersen received the ‘Academic Fellow Award’ from the (IRAS). This US-based organisation grants the award as ‘a one-time act of recognition for scholarly activity, research and/or teaching in the disciplines covered by the Institute’s purpose and span of activities’. Besides having been the Editor of the journal Zygon: Journal of Religion and Science since 2018, the award was principally granted for his scholarly contribution to the field of science and religion through his book Climate, God and Uncertainty: A transcendental naturalistic approach beyond Bruno Latour (UCL Press, 2023). A token of the award was handed to Petersen on Star Island, NH, USA by the President of IRAS, Dr. Carolyn J. Love.

Petersen joined UCL’s Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy (STEaPP) full-time in 2014 after more than 13 years’ working as a scientific adviser on environment and infrastructure policy within the Dutch Government. He has been a member of STEaPP’s Leadership Team from 2014–2018 and again from 2022.
