Moazzam Malik becomes Honorary Professor at 皇家华人 Policy Lab

Moazzam was recently Director General, Africa at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). Moazzam is now Managing Director at the World Resources Institute and will be working with the Lab to understand the future of foreign affairs and development policy.

罢丑别听UCL Policy Lab聽is excited to announce that Moazzam Malik, Managing Director for Global Delivery at the World Resources Institute, has become an Honorary聽Professor.

Ahead of the announcement, Moazzam Malik said 鈥淚 am very excited to be collaborating with the UCL Policy Lab. The world faces immense global challenges including climate change, conflict, economic instability, inequality and poverty, and the risk of pandemics. The UK鈥檚 future prosperity and security rests on addressing these issues. We need to forge new partnerships with emerging powers, vulnerable countries as well as our traditional allies in Europe and North America. UCL is a great place to bring together academics, policy-makers and activists to find solutions that work for the 21st 肠别苍迟耻谤测鈥.

The Lab will work with Moazzam to help shape the debate on foreign affairs and development in the UK and globally. The Lab鈥檚 Director, Marc Stears was thrilled to welcome Moazzam聽as one of the Lab鈥檚 Honorary Professors.

鈥淢oazzam has been at the forefront of the evolution of foreign affairs and development policy for well over two decades. He joins us at what is a critical time for the future direction of UK foreign and development policy. The potential to rethink how we approach these issues is huge, and Moazzam鈥檚 appointment marks a critical component in how the Lab will approach the debate.鈥

In an聽interview for the Policy Lab Magazine, Moazzam spoke about the exciting role the UK could play in the world and the potential for innovation when it comes to how we think about the role of foreign affairs. As a Director General, Africa at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) following the merger of the Department for International Development and the Foreign Office, Malik is well aware of the challenges and opportunities that come with major shifts in policy. 聽聽

The Policy Lab 鈥 born as a joint initiative between UCL鈥檚 Department of Economics and Political Science 鈥 is committed to supporting decision-making and public debate through innovative and collaborative research.
