Job description
We are currently appointing to the following modules for 2024-2025 academic year:
- Sociology of Education module: 99.5 hours. This module takes place in Term 1.
- Understanding Education Research module: 90 hours. This module takes place in Term 1.
- Understanding Education Policy module: 105 hours. This module takes place in Term 2.
- Rights and Education module: 105 hours. This module takes place in Term 2.
- Sociology of Race and Education module: 105 hours. This module takes place in Term 3.
The purpose of this job is to support teaching and learning in our Sociology of Education MA modules. This will involve working with the academic module leads to deliver small group teaching for students taking the above modules in the EPS Department.Ìý
Main duties of the post are tutorial class teaching, regular meetings with the module team, provision of feedback to students, provision of weekly office hours, managing on-line discussion forums, attendance reporting, and, in some cases, coursework assessment.Ìý
Teaching Assistants will be given training in support of their roles.

Key responsibilities
- Teaching assistance through the facilitation of seminars and/or workshops;
- Class preparation and meeting with lecturers/module organisers;
- Giving feedback to students;
- Provision of feedback to students and managing on-line discussion forums
Requirements for role
The successful candidate will be educated to Masters degree level (or having equivalent experience), in a Sociology of Education related field, and working towards a relevant postgraduate degree (PhD). You will have an specialist knowledge appropriate to the module taught, and have the ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, with students, academic and support staff at all levels.Ìý
