Railway workers鈥� strike action w/c 17 July: Information for staff

Your work may be affected by the railway workers鈥� strike action from Monday 17 July.
RMT train听strikes
Railway workers who are part of the RMT union will stage a walkout on trains on the following days:听
- Thursday 20 July
- Saturday 22 July
- Saturday 29 July
Planned strikes 听from Sunday 23 July until Friday 28 July on the London Underground have now been cancelled.
RMT have added that there will be no strike action on Monday 24 July.
ASLEF action short of a strike
The train drivers鈥� union, ASLEF, have announced an overtime ban on听Monday 17 July 鈥� Saturday 22 July. 听This action is short of a strike and will happen across a significant number of rail operators. These dates have been selected by the unions as they are the busiest days of the month and coincide with major sporting events so they will cause a lot of disruption on and around these days.听
Coming into campus
If you are coming into campus on the train, please check with the rail operator and allow extra time to get to your destination. You can visit ,鈥� or the , to plan alternative types of transport such as bicycle and scooter hire, walking, buses etc. If you are unable to get to work using alternative transport, you should let your line manager know as soon as possible.
If transport strikes affect your ability to come into campus, you are welcome to work from home on the affected days, if your job lends itself to home working.
Staff unable to work from home can agree flexible solutions with managers such as using TOIL or making up lost time where possible. If alternative arrangements cannot be found, staff should arrange to take annual leave or unpaid leave, in line with our Special Leave Policy on travel and weather disruption.
