Prerequisites: You will be expected to have experience of using Python, which you will use for your investigation. You must also have completed at least 30 credits of Level 4 undergraduate mathematics and be confident in applying this knowledge to solve problems. This module is designed for students taking the Natural Sciences programme. Due to the supervised nature of the projects we are unfortunately not able to accommodate students from other departments wishing to take this module at the present time.

Description

You will carry out a supervised computer investigation in an assigned topic area and produce a written account of your work. Guidance to help with carrying out and reporting your investigation will be given during weekly workshops.

Students who complete this module should be able to:

[1] Plan and carry out a research task and assess the significance of outcomes

[2] Deploy accurately established techniques of analysis and enquiry within a science-related discipline

[3] Demonstrate self-direction and originality to address complex and unfamiliar problems

[4] Exercise the initiative and personal responsibility required for continued professional development
