This module will introduce you to statistical coding in clinical trials with the aim of being able to produce analyses of a clinical trial. You will develop a coding mindset and learn the principles of coding regardless of the software. In the module, you will learn to use two commonly used software packages in clinical trials: R and Stata.    Ìý

You will have the opportunity to put your learning into practice using examples from actual clinical trials, preparing you for a career as an applied statistician or as a methodologist in clinical trials.Ìý

The aim of this module is to improve your confidence in using statistical software to analyse data from clinical trials. You will learn how to produce tables and figures and to clearly and appropriately display clinical trials results to facilitate their interpretation.  Ìý

At the end of the module, you will be able to:Ìý

1. Understand the fundamentals of the different programming languagesÌý

2. Manipulate datasets to produce resultsÌý

3. Clean datasets in appropriate ways in preparation for analysisÌý

4. Analyse data to obtain outputs from statistical softwareÌý

5. Produce figures and tables that display the results of analyses clearly and appropriatelyÌý

This module is compulsory for students on the Statistics for Clinical Trials route of the MSc Clinical Trials.Ìý
