Peer Feedback Project

Do you want to enhance teaching & learning on your course in 2024/25 using Peer Feedback?

For the 2024/25 academic year we have secured faculty funding for an improved Peer Feedback tool that utilises generative AI and we are currently looking for colleagues who would like to be involved in using it. This tool will be embedded in Moodle and only available to the MAPS faculty.

The “” software is in use by multiple Universities globally, including key competitors such as Imperial, and we believe it has the potential to significantly enhance the peer feedback experience for both students and staff. Not only is the software considerably easier to use than Moodle Workshop, with a much-improved user interface and overall workflow, but it also includes generative AI to help scaffold the experience for students. We know from the research in this field that giving effective feedback is not a trivial process, but the AI built into this platform can make suggestions for students in a friendly and approachable way – and this “feedback on feedback” can be automatically tailored based on rubrics or other material that you supply.

If you would like to know more about the project and get involved, please contact the Faculty Learning Technology Lead, Dr Richard Osborne (r.osborne@ucl.ac.uk). We anticipate including up to 30 courses in the pilot, with training and support both from the Faculty Learning Technology Lead and the company commencing in September and running throughout the first two terms. We hope this will provide a chance to grasp the positive potential of generative AI in teaching & learning and at the same time support our broader faculty strategy to improve assessment & feedback.
