Biography

John Myers bought Bath estate, a coffee plantation, from Mathurin Leverrier Bergopzoon on 02/09/1824 when the estate was already mortgaged. Deceased by 1834 when the claim for compensation was made by "The heirs absent or unknown of the late John Myers deceased in this Colony assigned at the residence of the King's Attorney General To Mr Clairfond Duboulay in name and as administrator of the Vacant Succession of the late John Myers" and heavily litigated.

  1. John Myers and Fanny Marie Poularde (q.v.) had a son, Charles Thomas Alexandre Myers who married in 1840 (John Myers was noted as deceased and Fanny Marie recorded as a proprietress). Another son, John William Myers, married Sophie Sarrotte 25/04/1847 when his parents were given as John Myers (deceased) and Fanny Marie Poularde. Reference to a daughter, Stephanie Myers, has been found in a will of Fanny Marie Poularde (alias Fanny Myers), dated 02/11/1869. Bath Estate was later sold by the heirs of John Myers (they were not identified) to D. Minvielle 05/03/1835 who sold the estate again in 1855 to C. Rosemont.
