Vice-Dean (Health) is a new role that will see Professor Bezemer leading the IOE鈥檚 portfolio of Health work. This includes leading on the Health strategy鈥檚 development, implementation and annual monitoring; aligning it with the IOE鈥檚 faculty and research strategic plans; working with Departments to develop health-related activity across the IOE; and connecting with UCL-wide initiatives.

Professor Bezemer will take on the three-year term alongside his role as Head of the Department of Culture, Communication and Media (CCM). Professor Bezemer joined the IOE in 2004 and previously served as Interim Director of the UCL Knowledge Lab before becoming Head of CCM. His research focuses on clinical communication and education and health care delivery. He has worked on projects about teamwork and inter-professional communication, surgical education, and clinical decision making in the operating theatre and intensive care unit.

Professor Bezemer said: 鈥淚 am delighted to take on this exciting new role to promote and develop the IOE鈥檚 academic portfolio in the health domain. We are already doing some very impressive work in this area and there鈥檚 great potential to advance this, not least through cross-faculty collaborations.
