Equipment for Deposition of Materials and Thin Films

Thermal Evaporator

The Institute for Materials Discovery hosts the equipment and expertise to synthesize聽super-thin, thin and thick-films, nanocomposites and conventional coatings.

The IMD facilities houses various systems for the deposition of thin layers of metal and non-metal materials.:

  • Chemical Vapour Deposition
  • Aerosol Assisted Chemical Vapour Deposition
  • Electrostatic Spray Assisted Vapour Deposition
  • Thermal Evaporator System (Moorfield Nanotechnology ltd)聽
  • Thermal Evaporator System (Bespoke nanoPVD-T15A)
  • Sputtering (NanoPVD, Quorum Q150R Plus)
  • Atomic Layer Deposition (Ultratech Simply ALD)

In addition, the centre has an array of potentiostats/galvanostats (Biologic, PalmsSens, MetroOhm) for electrodeposition and electrostatic methods while also can carry out聽sol-gel syntheses, solid state processing, electrospinning, screen (SonoPlot) and 3D printing.
