On 27-28 March 2017, Birmingham University hosted , which welcomed leading UK Chemical Engineering academics, industry partners and international guests, to discuss developments and innovations towards a more sustainable future.

At the ChemEngDayUK 2017 Awards Ceremony, UCL Chemical Engineering showcased their research and won more than half of all prizes on offer, scooping seven awards in total.

" Nigel Titchener-Hooker, Dean of UCL Engineering had this to say about the awards: "The sight of 8 皇家华人inners on the list of prizes at the Birmingham ChemEng 2017 event has swelled my heart with pride! It's a wonderful testament to your individual efforts, to that of your supervisors and mentors, and to the general ethos of the department. UCL Chem Eng is on the move and you are clearly in the vanguard. Let's keep it up and share your skills and insights with colleagues so that this momentum is maintained. 聽Well done again.鈥�

The UCL Chemical Engineering prize winners included:

• Matthew Darby (PhD student with Michail Stamatakis) for the Best Poster of ChemEngDay UK 2017
• Michele Lynch (PhD student with Marc-Olivier Coppens) for the Best Poster in the theme 鈥淐hemical Engineering at Interface鈥�
  
• Kaiqiao Wu (PhD student with聽Marc-Olivier Coppens) for the Best Poster in the theme 鈥淐hemical Engineering Fundamentals鈥�
• Conor Waldram (PhD student with Asterios Gavriilidis) for the best 3-minute Research Highlight Talk, on Catalysis and Sustainable Green Chemistry
  
• Matthew Chin (PhD student with聽Marc-Olivier Coppens聽and Richard Day) for the Best Poster in the theme 鈥淏iological Engineering鈥�
  
• Michaela Pollock (Teaching Fellow, with Eva Sorensen) for the Best Poster in the theme 鈥淓ducation and Training鈥�

Domenico Macri (PhD student with Paola Lettieri) and Simona Migliozzi (PhD student with Luca Mazzei and Giota Angeli): Awarded for the most retweeted聽IChemE聽post at ChemEngDay UK 2017 (image right)
