Professor John Mitchell is presenting at the Workshop on the Future of Engineering Education at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto on 14 March. Four world leaders of engineering education have been invited to share their experiences. Speakers hail from Aalbord University, Denmark, TU Delft, Netherlands and the University of Sheffield.聽
The purpose of this workshop is to benchmark FEUP鈥檚 educational聽model against leaders鈥� programs, with the purpose to prepare the聽future model of Engineering Education of European universities.
The workshop aims to promote an engaged discussion around聽the following topics:
-Multidisciplinary competency-based engineering education,聽promoting Academia-Industry partnerships and targeting a聽successful transition to the labour market;
-Models of blended online and in-person teaching, with flexible聽and non-traditional classrooms and laboratories;
-Student-centred learning for large cohorts, where engaged students聽actively build their own academic/professional paths;
-Fostering an entrepreneurship ecosystem and promoting engaged聽student-led activities;
-Key Performance Indicators for the assessment of relevant educational process outcomes
This discussion takes place in the context of challenges brought about by the climate emergency, industry 4.0, Covid-19, and the information era, which demands new approaches to the future of engineering education. The workshop will identify key features of innovative educational systems and practices.
This workshop precedes the 3rd International Conference on Science an Technology Education, hosted by the聽Engineering Faculty at the University of Porto later in 2022.
