The Crook Society is the UCL Biochemical Engineering undergraduate events society and we're very pleased to announce the new committee members for 2022-2023:

Pamela听Emanuelle, President

I studied an听IB (HL biology, chemistry, english) and am now on the听Bioprocessing of New Medicines (Science and Engineering) programme and I'm interested in听Stem cells and Regenerative medicine.
My goal this year is to deliver events that the undergraduate students genuinely want and would enjoy. I鈥檓 hoping being this society鈥檚 committee would provide me with the opportunity to interact with the whole department, instead of only my batch. Overall, I really hope this year will make up for the two in-person years that we lost to covid :鈥�)

Nathanael Widjaja, Treasurer

Before coming to UCL Biochemical Engineering I took an IB Diploma in Jakarta, HLs: biology, chemistry and mathematics, SLs: English, Indonesian and information technology in a global society and am now doing my degree in听Biochemical engineering. I'm interested in artificial, lab grown meat
As treasurer, I'm looking forward to being able to get out of my comfort zone and face new challenges.

Shaofeng Xu,听General Secretary

My A levels were in Math, Further math, chemistry and physics and I'm now taking a听Beng Biochemical Engineering. My research interest is in stem cells like reprogramming and their differentiation potential.听听
I'm very excited to meet new friends from our department in every cohort. Hope we can organise wonderful events together!

Jaanvi Gandhi, Vice President

I completed my International Baccalaureate (IB) in India. My subjects were Business Management, Economics and Biology HL and Math, English and French B SL.听 I'm now on the听Bsc Bioprocessing of New Medicines (Business and Management).听I never thought I would end up in the Biochemical Engineering department, but I absolutely love it! My main interests lie in manufacturing and compounding of pharmaceuticals as well as the applications of bioprocessing in production of food & beverages!
Spending a year in the department has shown me the various possibilities and applications of this field!听I am looking forward to meeting more people from our department and attending all our career events for more exposure to the industry!听

Naomi Ayanniran, Social Secretary

I'm from Manchester, UK and I studied A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, Maths & Spanish. I'm not studying the听MEng Biochemical Engineering and my academic interests lie in the bioprocessing of gene therapy products.
I'm looking forward to organising in-person events to promote new relationships & connections between undergrad students of different years within the department.听
听
