The YES competition is a national event for student teams to pitch a start-up concept in one of three categories - biotech, energy & environment, plant & microbial. Entered into the biotech stream, our graduates' start-up (OMV Therapeutics), proposed a new immuno-therapeutic platform based on bacterial vesicles. Securing mentoring from experts in finance, intellectual property, and business development, the team successfully progressed to the final where they received the 鈥榖est healthcare business plan鈥� award sponsored by GSK. The OMV Therapeutics team comprises Thomas Fanthom, Jack Firth, Georg Von Massow, Tiffany Hood, and Roman Labb茅.

鈥淭he competition has been a really rewarding experience and we couldn鈥檛 be happier with the outcome. It has been challenging managing our research and the competition during these times, but the whole team did an amazing job. Looking back, I don鈥檛 think we knew just how many entrepreneurial skills we would have picked up along the way to help us in our careers going forward.
