Training

Training is central to our mission of translating the science of behaviour change into practice.

The CBC offers a range of training packages for researchers, practitioners, policy makers and others in all sectors. We offer both in-person and online training.


International Training Programme

Our International Training Programme (ITP) comprises four courses of increasing depth in their coverage of the science of behaviour change, from a four-week online course to an MSc in Behaviour Change.

• A brief introduction to key concepts and tools in behaviour change
• Self-directed learning, hosted on FutureLearn
• Four online modules over four weeks (three hours per week)
• Q&A with behaviour change experts
• Open to all

Applied Principles and Practice of Behaviour Change

• In-depth focus on developing and implementing interventions in a range of real-world contexts and constraints
• Online course with interactive live sessions, case studies, small group mentoring
• Week-long intensive course
• Open to learners who have completed the introductory course (or any CBC Summer School during 2014 - 2021) or have equivalent experience

Advanced Modules in Behaviour Change

• Specialist knowledge and skill development modules including: Influencing motivation; Ontologies and the Behaviour Change Intervention Ontology; Process evaluation and the Behaviour Change Wheel Toolbox; Behavioural Systems Mapping. 
• Full day online sessions  
• Open to learners who have at least completed the introductory course or equivalent

MSc, PG Diploma or PG Certificate in Behaviour Change

• A postgraduate degree in behaviour change drawing on multidisciplinary scholarship and its application
• MSc: 8 modules to the value of 180 credits; 4 core modules (75 credits), 3 elective modules (45 credits) and a research-based dissertation (60 credits) 
• PG Diploma: 7 modules to the value of 120 credits; 4 core modules (75 credits), 3 elective modules (45 credits)
• PG Certificate: 3 core modules to the value of 60 credits
• Lectures, seminars, small group work, project work and independent study
• One-year full time, two-years part time

Our bespoke training helps institutions across the public, commercial and third sectors to understand and apply behaviour change science to a range of issues.
