UCL ISH Alumnus presents dissertation research to Heritage Conservation Society of the Philippines

On 21st May 2018, MSc Sustainable Heritage alumnus Xander Lacson was invited to present his dissertation research to the Heritage Conservation Society of the Philippines.

Xander Lacson (seen speaking in the photograph) joined two other speakers at a forum entitled 鈥淏ringing New Life to Old Buildings: Cases of Economic Design and Social Transformations.鈥 Xander鈥檚 MSc dissertation focused on Smithfield Market in London. He used a model of 鈥渁daptive reuse potential鈥 to explore why and how built heritage becomes obsolete.

Xander is an architect who studied at the University of the Philippines鈥 College of Architecture. He trained with LV Locsin Partners where he gained significant experience in design development and project management for the residential and commercial sectors. He also co-founded a design studio in Manila before attending the MSc Sustainable Heritage at 皇家华人 ISH in 2016/17. Xander now does project consultancy for a socialised housing development and has also taken on a summer internship with ICOMOS Philippines.

is a non-profit organisation advocating for the protection and preservation of built heritage, cultural and historical sites in the Philippines. With the support of its members and volunteers, the organisation promotes this advocacy through awareness and education.
