We welcome Natalia Milanesio as our new Leverhulme Trust Visiting Professor

The Institute of the Americas is delighted to announce that Professor Paulo Drinot and have been awarded a Leverhulme Trust Visiting Professorship. Dr. Milanesio is Professor of History at the University of Houston (United States). She is a cultural historian of modern Latin America interested in gender, sexuality, and consumer culture. While at »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË Institute of the Americas, as Leverhulme Trust Visiting Professor, Dr. Milanesio will present her recent work on the transformations of sexual ideologies, practices, and media content in Argentina after the fall of the 1970s dictatorship. She will also share her current research on the rise of feminism in 1980s Argentina, examining the particularities of women’s activism during democratic restorations. Professor Milanesio is the author of monographs (2012) and (2019), as well as their respective Spanish versions: (2020) and (2021).

The Leverhulme Trust was established by the Will of William Hesketh Lever, the founder of Lever Brothers. Since 1925 the Trust has provided grants and scholarships for research and education.
