This book presents methodological approaches that can help explore the ways in which people develop emotional attachments to historic urban places.

With a focus on the powerful relations that form between people and places, this book uses people-centred methodologies to examine the ways in which emotional attachments can be accessed, researched, interpreted and documented as part of heritage scholarship and management.

Fernando Gutiérrez is currently pursuing his PhD studies at »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË Institute of the Americas. The title of his research project is Attachment and memory: urban regeneration and the Alameda Central in Mexico City’s historic centre. He is working under the supervision of Professor Paulo DrinotÌýandÌýÌý(UCL Department of Geography) as primary supervisors and Dr Kate Saunders-Hastings as secondary supervisor.

Ilkka Törmä is an independent urban researcher.
